I am an instructor at Capilano University in the Jazz Studies Department and have worked there since 2008. Capilano is a great place to teach and work. We attract some of Canada's most talented young musicians and the faculty are among the finest players and educators in the country. I teach improvisation, arranging, small ensembles, conducting, and direct the renowned Narwhal ensemble. I served as Academic Coordinator (dept. head) of Jazz Studies from 2013-2018 and was responsible for the development and implementation of redesigns of our BMus degree streams and diploma.
Before coming to Capilano, I taught at Douglas College, Simon Fraser University School for Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University Faculty of Education, University of Oregon, Delta Community Music School, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and at various elementary schools. I have frequently been a clinician and adjudicator at Envision Jazz Festival, Surrey Jazz Festival, BC Interior Festival, Cantando Festivals in Whistler and Nelson, Vancouver School Board District Festivals, and many others.
Recently, I have had the privilege of doing some volunteer teaching and non-profit development work with the Nunya Music Academy in Dzodze, Ghana.
