Ta Ki Ta plays a fusion of jazz and Indian classical music. The recording on this page features Kenneth Wells on sarode and Hari Pal on tabla. Ken taught us a lot of beautiful tunes that he learned from his guru, the late Ali Akbar Khan, and this music formed the core of our repertoire. Hari and Ken were very patient in trying to teach me some some of the ins and outs of the Hindustani musical tradition and I added some of my jazz influences to the mix.
Ken moved to Kamloops in 2006 so Ta Ki Ta in this configuration is now defunct, but I think we made some great music and I really love this recording. The live parts of the CD were recorded at our second gig as a group. There was definitely some magic there. Now Hari and I sometimes perform under the name Ta Ki Ta with saxophonist, Karen Graves, as well as other musicians in the Vancouver area.
